Alerts for: Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity

11:39 PM NDT Tuesday 31 March 2015
Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity

Forecast guidance indicates an area of low pressure will develop off the U.S. Eastern Seaboard tonight and track across the Avalon Peninsula on Wednesday night. This system will bring significant snowfall and strong winds Wednesday night to much of Eastern Newfoundland. The precipitation is forecast to remain as snow over areas to the west of the low's track but will likely change through freezing rain to rain over parts of the Avalon Peninsula as the temperatures turn milder. Precipitation is expected to end by Thursday morning as the low moves away, but strong westerly winds may persist through the day Thursday, possibly causing reduced visibilities in blowing snow.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
