  • Dempster

Blizzard conditions with gusty winds and persistent visibility near zero in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring.

An arctic ridge of high pressure building over NWT is generating strong winds and blizzard conditions near the Richardson Mountains. Easterly winds of 60 km/h gusting 80 will continue to cause widespread near zero visibilities in blowing snow tonight and Sunday morning.

Travel is expected to be extremely hazardous due to reduced visibility. Protect yourself from wind, cold and disorientation by staying sheltered, indoors or with your vehicle.

Blizzard Warnings are issued when widespread reduced visibilities of 400 metres or less are expected for at least 4 hours.

Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please monitor local media or Weatheradio. Email reports of severe weather to pacificstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet with the hashtag #BCStorm in British Columbia and #YKStorm in Yukon.
