Special weather statement for
First winter cold spell.
An Arctic air mass will remain over our regions until the beginning
of the next week. Wind chill warnings are already in effect for
Temperatures are currently well below seasonal values. Mornings will
stay especially cold, with minimums between -25 and -30 degrees
Celsius for regions north of the St. Lawrence River, while wind chill
values along the St. Lawrence Valley will reach -30 locally.
Sunday, temperatures will warm up slightly as a low pressure system
will track along the eastern American seaboard. The snow associated
with this system will affect Southern and Central Quebec with a
chance of blowing snow along the St. Lawrence Valley. However, it is
still too early to determine with precision the amounts of snow and
the intensity of the blowing snow.
The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
