Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Ottawa North - Kanata - Orléans
  • Ottawa South - Richmond - Metcalfe

A mix of wintery weather to much of Southern Ontario expected today, except snow for central and eastern regions.

A low pressure system is tracking toward Southern Ontario today and will bring a wintery mix of precipitation to the region.

For Extreme Southwestern Ontario to Hamilton and the Niagara Peninsula, a freezing rain warning is in effect.

Further north, for areas east of Southern Lake Huron to north of Lake Ontario including the Greater Toronto area, precipitation is expected to be mainly snow. However, some ice pellets and localized freezing rain are also likely late this afternoon into this evening. General snowfall amounts in the 5 to 10 cm range will be possible in this area, with lower amounts in areas that receive more ice pellets or freezing rain. The freezing rain warning may be extended into these regions if it shifts a little farther north than currently expected.

For Central and Eastern Ontario, snow will begin this afternoon and end tonight. Snowfall amounts of about 10 centimetres are expected.
