Blizzard warning in effect for:

  • Kugluktuk

Blizzard conditions with near-zero visibilities in blowing snow are expected to develop late this afternoon and continue until Monday morning. Winds will likely be strongest and visibility lowest late this evening, when gusts to 90 km/h are likely.

Blizzard warnings are issued when widespread reduced visibilities of 400 metres or less are expected for at least 6 hours.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. If you do travel and become lost, remain where you are until the blizzard has passed. Protect yourself from wind, cold and disorientation by staying sheltered, indoors or with your vehicle.
