Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • Inuvik Region

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

Snow has developed in the Mackenzie Delta ahead of a strong low pressure system from the Pacific. 10 cm of snow is expected by the time the snow ends this evening. With the passage of a cold front in the afternoon, brisk northwesterly winds gusting to 60 km/h combined with fresh snow will this will lead to widespread visibilities below 1 km in blowing snow. Conditions will improve overnight Friday night.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

Winter Storm Warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
