Winter storm warning in effect for:

  • Colchester County North

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

A low pressure system south of Nova Scotia will intensify as it tracks northeastward today to lie over the Gulf of St. Lawrence by overnight tonight. This disturbance will spread heavy snow and blowing snow across the region today. The snow will become mixed with freezing rain or ice pellets as temperatures approach the freezing mark this morning. Strong northeast winds will produce heavy blowing snow throughout the day today causing reduced visibilities. Total snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm are possible. Gradual improvement is expected beginning this evening.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.

Winter Storm Warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
