Rainfall warning in effect for:

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

A low pressure system northeast of Cape Hatterss this afternoon will track across the Maritimes tonight to lie over the Gulf of St. Lawrence by Monday morning. Rain, at times heavy, is expected to begin this evening and will be accompanied by strong southerly winds overnight into Monday morning. Rain will taper to isolated showers Monday morning.

Rainfall amounts of 50 to 70 millimeters are expected for Cape Breton and parts of mainland Nova Scotia by Monday morning.

Strong southerly winds gusting up to 90 kilometres per hour are expected overnight tonight and Monday morning for Cape Breton and parts of eastern mainland Nova Scotia.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall Warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
