Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Burin Peninsula

Significant winter weather possible today.

A low pressure system currently over Nova Scotia is forecast to track northeastward and cross Newfoundland this evening. Snow is expected to change to a mixture of ice pellets and freezing rain before eventually changing to rain this afternoon. Generally 5 to 10 centimetres of snow is expected with 10 to 25 millimetres of rain, however a slight southeastward shift in the track could result higher snowfall amounts.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
