Wind warning in effect for:

  • Haida Gwaii

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

A rapidly intensifying low over the Pacific will move towards the B.C. coast tonight. Ahead of the low, strong southeast winds of at least 90 km/h will begin late this evening at Haida Gwaii and overnight along the mainland coast. The wind will ease below warning criteria by tomorrow morning along the mainland coast and shift direction to the southwest but will remain fairly strong throughout day. However, exposed coastal sections of Haida Gwaii will see extremely strong southwest winds tomorrow afternoon as the low tracks through Dixon Entrance. The winds at Haida Gwaii will ease tomorrow evening.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.
