Cold snap beginning today and Friday.

The current mix of mild and wet or snowy conditions over the interior will turn dry and cold over the next two days.

An Arctic cold front is moving southwards across the Central Interior today and will move across the southern interior on Friday. Snow and gusty northerly winds will accompany the front and reduce visibilities on the roads. In the southern interior, the quick freeze will cause wet surfaces to become icy and slippery in the southern interior overnight and Friday. Travel conditions may become challenging on the icy roads. Travellers may want to comsider alternate travel plans.

An extended period of cold and dry weather is expected in the wake of the Arctic front. Overnight temperatures in the Central Interior are expected to be in the minus twenties through the middle of next week, and in the minus teens in the southern interior. Extensive valley cloud with sunny skies at higher elevations can also be expected through much of the interior next week.
