Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Highway 3 - Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass

Heavy snow will continue.

A slow moving Pacific frontal system had brought near 60 cm of snow over the Coquihalla summit and Allison Pass since Monday evening. Snow at the two highway passes had changed to rain this morning. However, light snow at Pennask Summit and Coquihalla Highway - Merritt to Kamloops will continue into tonight.

Meanwhile, the front will continue to give snow heavy at times to the Rogers Pass and Kootenay Pass today and tonight. Snow at Kootenay Pass is expected to change to rain overnight or Thursday morning. But snow at Rogers Pass will persist through Thursday afternoon. Additional snow amounts of up to 30 cm expected by Thursday morning.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
