Rainfall warning for
Kootenay Lake continued

Heavy rainfall expected into Thursday morning.

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

Thunderstorms have developed over the East Kootenay and Elk Valley areas this evening and still have the potential to produce intense lightning and heavy downpours along with strong winds for the next hour or two.

Meanwhile an upper low moving across Oregon is spreading extensive moisture aross Southern BC. Rain has spread across much of the southern interior and into the west Central Interior. Rainfall amounts so far have been in the 10 to 20 mm range except over the southeast where rainfall amounts range from 25 to 50 mm. Additional rainfall amounts will be in the 20 to 30 mm range but over the southeast amounts to 50 mm are possible especially in areas where thunderstorms occur. Rain is expected to be less over the northern parts of the west Central Interior and the rainfall warning is ended for the Bulkley Valley and Chilcotin regions. Rain will gradually ease over many areas on Thursday however rain will continue over the southeast where a further 10 to 20 mm are possible.
