Wind becoming southeast 5 to 15 late overnight except northwest 20 to 30 over northwestern sections. Wind increasing to northwest 20 to 30 near noon Friday except southeast 5 to 15 near the coast south of Barkley Sound. Wind becoming northwest 25 to 35 Friday evening.

Periods of rain tonight and Friday. Fog patches dissipating late this morning. Visibility 1 mile or less in fog patches and as low as 1 mile in rain.

Issued 10:30 AM PDT 23 May 2024 Today Tonight and Friday At 10:30 a.m. PDT today trough located on a line north-south over
Haida Gwaii.
By 9:30 p.m. PDT tonight trough located on a line north-south over
southeastern Explorer.

At 4:00 p.m. PDT today ridge located west of the offshore waters.
By 9:30 p.m. PDT Friday ridge located over Bowie.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 10:52 AM PDT 23 May 2024 The trough over Haida Gwaii moves southeastward today. Ahead of it,
southeasterly gales will develop near the headlands of Vancouver
Island this afternoon and ease this evening.

A ridge of high pressure building over offshore waters tonight will
slowly shift eastward to lie over Bowie on Friday evening. Strong
northwesterly winds developing ahead of the ridge will rise to
northwest gales over waters west of Vancouver Island on Friday
evening.
